Tips to pass CAF-9 Audit in C.A

Written By Moaaz Iqbal May 5, 2020
CAF-9 is famous for being a boring subject and a trouble maker in qualifying CAF. Students get confused while studying it because they can’t grasp the crux of the subject. So, in this article, I will be talking about my experience of passing CAF-9 and mistakes that I made in my first attempt for CAF-9 and how I overcame them in the next attempt. Keep in mind that CAF-9 ka level of difficulty is in between BMBS and Business Law. So relax, dosto. Agr Law nikl gaya hai tou yeh bhi nikl jaye ga. Let me guide you how?

Follow the Grid
Grid is a legitimate tool to nail your paper. Agr aapko grid ke hisaab se tyaari kerne aajaye tou CAF-9 kya, kisi bhi CAF subject ko behtr tackle ker sktay hain. What you have to do is that divide your preparation according to the grid and prioritize the portions according to potential marks. Do not leave out a portion just because it has 10-15 marks. Instead, prepare that portion first and secure your easy marks. Why exactly? Because probably that portion will weigh less and it will be easier as compared to other topics therefore, you’ll have a chance to confirm your 10-15 marks out of your 50 passing marks. So, move from smaller to larger portions.
Past paper analysis?
Sorry to say, but I’m not a fan of “Predicted Questions” or “Past paper analysis”. This is because it limits your preparation to the directed portion of books just because it is “likely” to come in this exam or it has “never been tested”. Mein aapko yeh recommend nahi kerun ga. Haan, you should definitely attempt past paper questions and learn answer techniques. That is necessary. But you should not use the pattern to predict the questions and rely on that prediction. How can you call it a preparation when you’re not prepared to deal with anything the examiner throws at you?

Examiner’s expectation
Examiner aapse fail honay ki umeed lga keh betha hai (Just kidding). Examiner has a defined answer structure, with little flexibility of course. They have set a standard deviation for each answer. Your answer must be within those limits.
i. First of all, he expects you to completely attempt the exam regardless of how many correct answers you have. 7-8% miss hojaye tou no issue.
ii. Secondly, he expects you to use appropriate language. This doesn’t mean that you write the whole book down, rather you should know the keywords and jargons to use in your answers.
iii. Last but not the least, he expects you to write as per requirements only. This one is really important. Saaday alfaazo mein, zaroorat se zyada nah likhiye. During my 1st attempt of CAF-9, I wrote more than the requirement of the question. But in the next attempt, I wrote as per the requirements. Nothing extra. Also, I used a better language and attempted the paper 100%.
Ratta ya concepts?
The answer is both. You cannot exactly put a finger on either. Some areas require pure memorization or conceptual understanding or, sometimes, both. Discuss with your teacher to help you highlight and divide these portions accordingly. What mistake I made is that, I went for a purely ratta attempt. I believed I was ready for any conceptual question just because I knew what was written in the textbook. Aisay nahi chalay ga dosto. Practice the conceptual questions taakay understand pakki hojaye. Read the solution of past papers and read examiner’s comment to judge areas demanding rattalization or conceptual understanding.
I hope this helps everyone. If you need some extra help understanding a certain concept or topic, you can access that particular topic at CAF 9 Audit and Assurance. You don’t have to purchase the entire course, just purchase the topic you want to study.
Best of luck!
